East Bengal defeats Mumbai City by 4-3 scoreline

East Bengal defeated Mumbai City FC by 4-3 in today's Durand Cup match at Kishore Bharati Stadium, Kolkata. A 7 goal thriller match helps East Bengal to find their first win in the prestigious Durand Cup tournament. But the both teams lacked their performance in defence area and East Bengal scored their all goals on counter attacks.

In the first half, both East Bengal and Mumbai City managed to score 3 goals but both teams also conceded 3 goals. Total 6 goals scored in first half of the game. The first goal of the match came in 17th minute when forward Sumeet Passi scored a header. Next Mumbai City midfielder Ahmed Jahouh teackled Cleiton Silva before the edge of the box, and the Brazilian forward doesn't forget to score goal this time. He put the ball in the top right corner and make the difference 2-0 immediately. But, soon in a counter attack Bipin Singh servs a cross in East Bengal box and Greg Stewart scored the third goal of the match by one touch volley. But, again in a counter attack for East Bengal, the ball reaches to Sumeet Passi and he made a cross in the box, but this time Mumbai City goalkeeper made the mistake and ball goes to goal. But again in a quickly counter attack Lalrinzuala scored a long ranger shot that beats East Bengal goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh. And the last goal from the first half came from the same player, Lalrinzuala who put the ball in the net in a second chance. 

In the second half, Eliandro once had the chance to score goal, but he couldn't make a shot towards goalpost. Then Pereira Diaz denied by post, but Kamaljit Singh made a good save on Greg Stewart's free kick. But in 81th minute, on a counter attack Amarjit Singh Kiyam place a ball for Cleiton Silva in Mumbai City box area, and again Silva scored a goal. That was the last goal of the match. Several players from both teams shown yellow card in the game. 

At least, East Bengal find their first win of the season and have 5 points on their name in group B in Durand Cup. But they will not be able to play knockout stage, because Mumbai City and ATK Mohun Bagan had more points on that group. Mumbai City have a chance to play knockout stage despite this loss against Emami East Bengal.
