I-League standings at the end of December

Now India's second tier football tournament Hero I-League is going in full swing with 12 clubs across multiple venues in the country. As per previous reports, this year's I-League Champions will get a direct spot in next year's Indian Super League on fulfilling the  licensing criteria . Let's see which team tops the league table for now and which other teams in top 4 of the table are on the run to snatch that position.
Currently Sreenidi Deccan is the table toppers with 19 points on their name, they won 6 games, drew one and lost two. Their performance is super delight from last season. Then comes Roundglass Punjab FC, who played one less match and behind two points from table toppers. They won 5 matches, drew two and lost one, achieving 17 points.

After that, there comes the club from Heaven on Earth, Real Kashmir. The snow leopards have 16 points and stands in 3rd position in league table. They won most of their home matches in the first phase but after that, they lost three matches in a row on away games.

Lastly there are Gokulam Kerala who started their campaign with some heartbreaking defeats but come back stronger with their experienced squad in the title race. Currently they are in 4th position with 15 points in 9 matches.

These four clubs are the top contenders to win I-League title this year as of now, December 26, 2022. But there are also many matches are upcoming in the coming months for the final race, some magical or something special are yet to happen to decide who will lift the trophy.

Indian Shot Stopper Sandesh Jhingan joins Bengaluru FC

The 29 year old Indian defender Sandesh Jhingan joins Bengaluru FC on a free transfer after he terminates his contract with his previous club ATK Mohun Bagan FC.  pic - Sandesh Jhingan He is one of the best Indian defender as of now, and continuously played for Indian National Football Team. Ahead of the new season, there was rumours that he might join at a European club. Previously in 2021 he joined a Croatian club HNK Sibenik, but there he didn't get any game time and come back to ATK Mohun Bagan in the mid-season. But ahead of the new season he was not in the list of ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Juan Ferrando. Former East Bengal player joins I-League team

Ex player of Kolkata Giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, 32 year old Raju Gaikwad joins I-League side Churchill Brothers FC on a two year deal as per reports.  Pic - Raju Gaikwad ( Google ) The player started his football career Indian Arrows in 2010, primarily plays as a centre back but also able to play as a full back, is a well known name in Kolkata football. Mohammadan SC through semifinals of Durand Cup after winning Quarter Final

In the first quarter final match of ongoing Durand Cup 2022, Mohammedan SC defeated Kerala Blasters FC 3-0 at Saltlake stadium, Kolkata. The Black Panthers are the dominating side in the whole match. The hero of the match is Abiola Dauda - the new foreign striker of Mohammedan SC who introduces himself to Indian football by scoring 2 goals in his debut game.  pic - Durand Cup social media The first goal of the match came in 17th minute when Marcus Joseph put a cross and Sk Faiaz place the ball through the net. Jamshedpur FC signs Indian midfielder Germanpreet Singh

 Pic - Germanpreet Singh Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC roped in Indian midfielder Germanpreet Singh for the upcoming ISL season. The midfielder is a graduate of AIFF Academy and joins the red miners from Chennaiyin FC ahead of new season. The midfielder started his career at Dempo and then move to Minerva Punjab in 2017. Later that year he joined Chennaiyin FC. During his time at Chennaiyin FC, he played 55 matches for the club and scored one goal also. He also played for India u19 and u23 side and made his debut for senior national team in 2016, in a game against Thailand.
