FIFA suspends All India Football Federation

The Bureau of the FIFA Council has unanimously decided to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect due to undue influence from third parties, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes.

The suspension will be lifted once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been repealed and the AIFF administration regains full control of the AIFF's daily affairs.

This means that India won't be able to play any international match both of men , women's and youth categories. And India won't be able to host the u17 women's World Cup this year.

The Indian Super League and other domestic tournaments will continue as scheduled.

But on the other hand, Indian clubs won't be able to participate in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup until the ban is removed!

Former East Bengal player joins I-League team

Ex player of Kolkata Giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, 32 year old Raju Gaikwad joins I-League side Churchill Brothers FC on a two year deal as per reports.  Pic - Raju Gaikwad ( Google ) The player started his football career Indian Arrows in 2010, primarily plays as a centre back but also able to play as a full back, is a well known name in Kolkata football. Indian U20 men's national football team head coach Shanmugam Venkatesh named 23 man squad ahead of u20 Asian Cup Qualifiers to be held in Kuwait. Jeje Lalpekhlua, one of the most popular football players in India, announced his retirement from professional football on 17th February, 2023. Hero I-League, the second tier of Indian football structure, will start from 12th November onwards with 12 teams accross the country. Kerala Blasters defeated East Bengal by 3-1 in the inaugural opening match of 2022-23 Hero Indian Super League at The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi today. Former Mohun Bagan star midfielder Joseba Beitia has joined I-League outfit Rajasthan United for the upcoming season.
