An story of achievement dedicated to Pehchaan The Street School

In this world education can unlock new achievements in your life, it can bring you success, can get you a social status, a strong identity etc. Pehchaan The Street School is always empowering students to help them achieve their goals. Some stories are meant to be unforgotten, and this story is one of them, it is an inspiration and merely the start of a future with so much possibility. Recently, a student named Deepak of Pehchaan The Street School visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet an IRS officer from the Finance Ministry.

The founder of Pehchaan The Street School had this awesome privilege to accompany Deepak to the Rashtrapati Bhavan to celebrate the occasion. Deepak is one of the NGO’s brightest and most talented students and this meet up is a chance for him to tell his side of story to the IRS officer of the Finance Ministry. Thus, a tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan is a prominence in itself, but while the journey begins on the streets, it becomes a story worth telling.

Let’s take a closer look at Deepak’s life, it is indeed a tale of grit and perseverance. He comes from a family where education is considered a luxury, not as a basic right which a child can enjoy. His father works as a daily wager and his mother is a homemaker, who works hard to bring their children to a better pathway in life, a life where everyone is equal and gets every basic right of living as a proper citizen in this country. But monetary problems usually came up in their way of dreams shattering their way into a better future. Being the eldest children of the family, Deepak learned taking responsibilities on his young shoulder from an early age. Even there was a time when he considered to leave school in order to support his family, different circumstance influenced him to take this decision then.

But here Pehchaan The Street School makes entry in  Deepak’s life to turn the table around. In 2015 Deepak joined Pehchaan The Street School to embracing a new way of life to live. Unlike most of the children who begin school with hesitation, Deepak accepted learning with open arms. Education not only becomes a hope, but opened a new pathway to the unknown future. Eventually he became an integral part of Pehchaan The Street School’s family like a leader. He helped the volunteers in organizing the study center, maintaining supplies, and handing out materials. His honest commitments made him a lovable individual into the whole organization. Deepak was always very eager to learn in everything he did. He did not passively receive knowledge; instead, he actively sought wisdom. Each year, he gained in confidence and also in the quality of his academic performance.

Also there came many difficulties along Deepak’s life journey, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. That time schools announced shutdowns and learning around the world changed to online, many students draped in the shadow of adversity lost touch with their education as digital resources were completely out of their reach. Deepak was no exception. With no smartphone, laptop, or internet connectivity at home, attending online classes seemed nothing short of impossible. It appeared as if his years of hard work were going to go waste. Luckily for him, Pehchaan The Street School acted fast to save Deepak and many children like him from an educational downfall and arranged a smartphone with an internet connection to allow him to continue his education. Deepak, even in the uncertain and difficult times of the pandemic, showed innumerable diligence towards his studies. He adapted to the new mode of learning, worked more than ever, and simply refused to let circumstances define his fate. After all, the dedication and resilience he showed are commendable. He even promised to bring more than 75% in class 12 exams and told the founder, Akash Tandon: “If I get more than 75% or above, you will have to purchase me a laptop!” And then when the results got out, Deepak scored a fabulous 83% in his CBSE 12 board exams, which sparked another milestone in his career. Akash took up the challenge, secretly wishing he would lose. And guess what? He lost in front of Deepak’s legacy.

Keeping his word founder, Akash Tandon and Pehchaan The Street School presented Deepak with a laptop respecting his dedication, determination and achievement. Here the laptop not only represents the ‘success’ tagline, but also showcases that what happens when talent meets opportunity. Deepak here stands for all the underprivileged students who don’t have the access to education and he also portrays himself as a symbol in the face of adversity for whom giving up is not an option.

That’s why the trip to the Rashtrapati Bhavan is not just an event, it is indeed a milestone. For someone like Deepak, an opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan and meet up with an IRS Commissioner from the Finance Ministry was not just an event; it was actually a testimonial of his beautiful journey and the impact of organizations like Pehchaan The Street School. Deepak was a visitor but also a symbol of hope for thousands of children like him. His presence there was proof that education could change lives; an underprivileged child could have great dreams and realize those dreams. During his meeting with the IRS Commissioner, Deepak got to share his story and aspirations with him, in addition to just how pivotal Pehchaan The Street School had been in shaping his future. And this conversation was not merely an acknowledgment of his accomplishments but also a gentle reminder to offer equal opportunities for every child, regardless of his or her economical, religious, or social status.

Deepak’s journey does not end with his board results or his visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is now setting his sights on higher education, determined to build a better future for himself and his family. While Pehchaan The Street School had been trying for years to bestow Deepak with an identity, a ‘pehchaan.’ And standing in the corridors of the Rashtrapati Bhavan that afternoon, a realization struck Akash Tandon’s mind that, it was actually Deepak who truly had given a ‘pehchaan’ to the organization.

What makes his story even more special is his desire to give back. Inspired by the support he received from Pehchaan The Street School, Deepak is now keen on helping other children who face similar struggles. He wants to ensure that no child has to give up on their dreams due to financial constraints. He has already started mentoring younger students at Pehchaan The Street School, guiding them through their studies and encouraging them to believe in their potential which can transform their lives. His transformation from a student to a mentor is a testament to the power of education in creating change-makers.

Additionally, Deepak’s achievement is not his alone; it is a triumph for all children who have the courage to dream beyond their financial constraints to touch their target goals and transform our society into another level. In fact, he is the first in his family to finish school, and setting a pure example for his siblings and obviously inspiring many more. His story is a proof that education is not merely about passing your exams; it is also about rewriting futures.

Since 2015, Pehchaan The Street School has been striving to give those unprivileged children an identity of their own. The visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan is thus a testament of enjoying those identity and status proudly. His story is an excellent example of what Pehchaan The Street School does for those underprivileged children, be it empowering or motivating them through the means of a better study environment.

Deepak's story has just begun, and he is an exemplary testament of how education and the nurturing power of the community can change the world.
