Kerala Blasters past East Bengal by 3-1 in ISL opener
Kerala Blasters defeated East Bengal by 3-1 in the inaugural opening match of 2022-23 Hero Indian Super League at The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi today. Ivan Kalyuzhnyi, the Ukrainian star scored a brace in his ISL debut, gives Kerala Blasters the win they need in the first match of the season. The fans of them (yennam yellow, manjapadda) were present in the Stadium in full mood today.
In the start of the second half, Apostolos Giannou almost scored a goal, takes a bolster shot towards East Bengal's goal, again Kamaljit Singh saved it. And in 53th minute again Giannou took a cross towards Luna who touched the ball in the goal, but again Kamaljit saved it. Blasters looked furious in the second half. And after 70 minutes of the match, the Uruguayan player Adrian Luna scored the first goal of the Hero Indian Super League from Khabra's cross by a simple tap-in. In 81th minute substitute player Ivan takes a solo run towards East Bengal box and scored the second goal of the match. After some time, Alex Lima scored the equaliser for East Bengal from a rebound volley. Again after that, Ivan scored a beautiful long ranger and increase the difference between the teams.
Another ISL season, another match for East Bengal, another defeat for them. That's the story of East Bengal from the past two seasons to this season's opener. After changing the coach, the foreign players, some domestic players, the story being same. Kamaljit Singh was like a wall beneath the goalpost today, or the goal difference will increase even more. Only one thing positive for the Red and Gold brigade that some individuals showed good performance in today's match like Alex Lima.
